	Electric cars have always been fascinating. The idea of soaring power, feeling like an airplane's effortless takeoff, with maximum power from a standing start, has only been limited by the difficulty of carrying along enough electric energy to drive a long distance. But most gas is burned on short trips, less than 40 miles per day. Electric locomotives have become the standard, because a big motor gives a degree of control not possible otherwise. Diesel-Electric locomotives get their electric from energy-dense diesel, and all-electric locomotives, buses and trollies use transmission lines to power the Electric traction motor. Electric earthmoving machinery in this format has become standard for the same reasons. Big Oil and their captive auto industry depend on Internal Combusion ("IC") for their profits, and have fought production and sale of Electric cars.
With the poisonous dependence on overseas oil imports bankrupting our treasury and poisoning our kids lungs, the move to plug-in oil-free cars is a matter of survival.

But don't take this on faith: explore any answer GM has for why it crushed the working, running EV1 all-electric car, with 140 miles all-electric range, and wasted two years already making models of a possible 40-mile-range EV!!

GM had the NiMH batteries, and NiMH are still running in Toyota RAV4-EV. GM sold control of these great batteries to Chevron, which then funded a lawsuit against Toyota, which stopped their use in plug-in cars. Why does an oil company, CHEVRON, the successor to Standard Oil of California, own control of the only proven EV batteries?
Why search for Lithium, when the NiMH EV1 went over 140 miles on a charge? The search for Lithium ignores existing, proven lead and NiMH batteries, which ran the successful EVs of the past and present.
By searching for Lithium, GM is just delaying again!
GM is posponing production of the so-called VOLT by ignoring proven successful batteries.
But see if GM answers these arguments! GM has tons of advertising money, the ear of sleazy reporters, and no one wants to ask them the tough questions: like Why is GM not admitting the truth about the batteries? Why not produce the EV that works, the EV1? Why is GM still suppressing volunteer-restored EV1? Why is GM failing to admit that it already had an "Extended Range EV" (EREV) back in 1998??

2007 U.S.C. study shows that living near freeways stunts the growth of children's lungs, permanently reducing lung capacity and inducing asthma and other lung diseases. Auto pollution has also been linked to other ailments including heart disease. This is said to affect urban design; but it shows there is no way to live in close proximity to the auto exhaust and refinery pollution. It's not the freeways that kills kids lungs, it's the AUTO EXHAUST.

"3677 children...from 12 southern California communities that represent a wide range in regional air quality. Children were followed up for 8 years, with yearly lung-function measurements recorded. For each child, we identified several indicators of residential exposure to traffic from large roads. Regression analysis was used to establish whether 8-year growth in lung function was associated with local traffic exposure, and whether local traffic effects were independent of regional air quality. FINDINGS: Children who lived within 500 m of a freeway (motorway) had substantial deficits in 8-year growth ...local exposure to freeways and regional air pollution had detrimental, and independent, effects on lung-function growth. One of these clean cars was destroyed, one is still running. Toyota sold the RAV4-EV, on the right, to the public, while GM took back and destroyed perfectly fine EV1 cars. Only if the people are vigilant against e oil industry bribes. The Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) program was originally intended to put a large fleet of ZEV cars on the road. In 1996, it was undermined and weakened to little more than a demonstration program. CARB proved that Electric cars are possible, and forced auto makers to reluctantly make a few ZEV.     Oil Dependence Anemia: Only the Zero Emission Vehicle ("ZEV") mandate is capable of enforcing clean air standards, reducing dependence on oil, and promoting serial-hybrid Electric cars.
